It is our business to work with youth centered organizations to offer a professionally customized set of services built around developing management and staff for the demands of working with and coaching the next generation youth.

Forward Youth Consulting offers individuals and organizations comprehensive and professional consultation in necessary areas of nonprofit management. We offer accomplished experts in areas ranging from organizational development to staff training and coaching youth for success.

If your organization is an out of school time program, community based after school activity or exists in the ream of competitive sports, music, arts, dance, or color guard programming; our experts can help. We have experience working with government entities, nonprofits, Title One Schools, and a wide range of extra-curricular activities and sports.

Our management consultants have areas of specialty in strategic planning, grant writing, risk management, ethics, data collection, data analysis, and fundraising. Our staff development consultants offer training and expertise in how to coach youth for success, youth development, bullying, gender specific programming, age appropriate conditioning, and gender based coaching.

Our History


Shelba Waldron is the founder of Forward Youth Consulting and has served the human services and arts community in a career that has spanned over two decades as a nonprofit professional, senior program consultant for a county wide government youth entity, volunteer board member, and youth coach. She has a Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She is an expert in youth development having spoken nationally on topics such as bullying, teen behaviors, female representation in the media, poverty, and gender based programming. She is the co-architect of the Poverty Experience; an experiential training that helps professionals working with parents and youth in poverty gain a better understanding of those they serve. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida School of Addiction Studies and has an extensive background in substance abuse education and prevention for teens. Her advocacy work focuses on support for parents struggling with the school system and access to the performing arts for all children.

Shelba has been involved with the pageantry arts in since high school and is a national name having taught with World Class Winter Guards such as the Shaktai Performance Company, the Alliance of Miami, and Paradigm. She currently consults throughout the country and focuses her work on best practices when coaching teenagers; specifically young women.
